Whatever It Takes is a teen comedy about two boys and two girls. One boy (Shane West) is sensitive. He's friends with one of the girls (Marla Sokoloff). She's sensitive too. The other boy's a popular jock and a little dim-witted. The other girl is popular, very popular, and a little insecure. The sensitive boy agrees to help the jock take the sensitive girl to the prom. The popular jock agrees to help the sensitive boy take the popular girl to the prom.

It is actually difficult to criticize (even more difficult to praise) Whatever It Takes because its errors are retread ideas and formulas numbed into a TV-spinoff stall. There are moments when a few minor characters exhibit signs of creativity, but then the bland beauties return to the camera's adolescent admiration. It's the kind of movie in which boredom enters at every level, even sinking into the ink of the reviewer who would warn you against it.
