Whipped

An insecure and schoolboyish approach to relationships is evident even in the title of writer-director Peter Cohen's latest movie: Whipped. While it alludes to innuendo, what gets projected is male insecurity, the true topic of this interminable film. One can see that Cohen wanted a sophisticated comedy about four Manhattan males and their quest for love. Each week this group of twentysomethings discusses their sexual conquests with crude attempts at humor. Girls are mere playthings for these undesirable hustlers. The plot complication is Mia (Amanda Peet), a woman they all fall in love with over the course of a few days. She leads them on, plays them off one another, and does her best to keep a bad movie watchable, but Cohen's affections lie with his buddies, who rudely grind Whipped into the ground.
