The last time we saw Paxton he was chasing tornadoes, which were filmed by Green. With its straight-forward simplicity and B-movie sensibility, the independent Traveller is decidedly anti-Twister. Set in the rural South, a group of Irish-American grifters, called Travellers, bilk unwitting victims by selling them decrepit trailers and shoddy roofing. Pat (Wahlberg), the son of a former Traveller, wants to become part of the group. Veteran Traveller Bokky (Paxton) takes Pat under his wing, and the pair swindle single mother Jean (Margulies). When Bokky falls for Jean, he decides to clean up his act but must pull off one last job. The unnecessarily violent ending nearly ruins the good-natured storytelling that preceded it.
