Cloying and slow — a dreadful combination. Marty Preston (Heron) finds an abused beagle and wants to adopt it, but his no-nonsense father (Moriarty) insists Marty return the dog to its owner, tobacco-spitting hunter Judd (Wilson). Marty secretly shelters the dog and lies about it. An odd casting move has Steiger as the kind town doctor.
