We don't give kids enough credit; we think they'll forget that bitter fight or ignore the slammed door. As seen in The Quiet Room, children absorb everything and take mental notes of the smallest details, making the film a powerful examination of a child's inner life. When she senses her parents are on the brink of divorce, the 7-year-old unnamed girl (Chloe Ferguson) clams up, hoping her unexplained silence will bring her parents closer. She speaks in voice-overs, relating her fears and desires. Thoughtful reflection on big themes from a little girl.
