Based on the novel by James Hadley Chase |
A cynical ex-reporter (Woody Harrelson) is seduced by a greedy Florida socialite (Elisabeth Shue) into faking her stepdaughter's kidnapping. Billed as a steamy crime thriller, heavy-handed horror and parodic dialogue put Palmetto in the running for the year's best unintentional comedy. Schlondorff's film noir doesn't totally crash and burn though; a sultry Shue and the sizzling Florida setting keep things smoldering.
