Based on actual events, a small-town teacher (Kline) stumbles into the spotlight when he's outed by a former student at the Academy Awards. That's not the worst part: Our hero didn't even know he was gay! Kline turns in an uproarious performance (including a smooch with Selleck), while Cusack earned an Oscar nomination for her madcap portrayal of the teacher's devoted but confused fiancée. A clever commentary on '90s relationships.
