The darling of the 1998 Sundance Film Festival, Next Stop, Wonderland follows an intelligent, attractive and lonely nurse, Erin (Davis) as she searches for Mr. Right after she's dumped via videotape by her live-in boyfriend. She interviews several candidates and thinks she's found someone who'll do in a Brazilian ethnomusicologist (Zuniga), never realizing she's had several near encounters with the real Mr. Right, Alan (Gelfant), a plumber studying to be a marine biologist. Outstanding performances, clever dialogue and characters who are more than mere caricatures make this a stylish, savvy look at the single life rather than a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy.
