A madcap comedy with a dark twist. Down-and-out Spanish actor Victor (Bardem) needs a temporary job so he can fend off bill collectors until his audition for a big American movie. He takes a job dispensing phone sex, figuring it can't be much different than acting. Victor is an instant hit with his clients, especially pleasing solemn plastic surgeon Bill (Flotats). Victor begins to fall for another client, femme fatale Amanda (Sánchez-Gijón), who happens to be Bill's wife. Things are not what they seem when Amanda persuades Victor to rendezvous with Bill so she can capture the assignation on film and force Bill into a divorce. The screwball comedy bit works fine, but the film becomes complicated and contrived as it takes a dark turn.
