Little Voice is a spirited musical featuring the enormously talented Jane Horrocks, and a strong cast of supporting characters. Little Voice, as she is called, is the Emily Dickinson of the diva world. Up in her attic room, meek LV channels an incredible power to mimic such chanteuses as Billie Holiday, Marlene Dietrich, and Judy Garland — her departed father's favorite singers. LV's bawdy, drunken mother, Mari (Blethyn), brings home a sleazy talent agent, Ray Say (Caine), and the pair see a big payday in the shy woman's singular talent. Little Voice is pushed into stardom by Mom and Ray, while she finds a soulmate in telephone repairman/pigeoner (McGregor). For many, the best part of Little Voice will be Horrocks' stunning performances, which were filmed live before an audience. Her uncanny talent inspired the successful London play “Little Voice.”
