A dark comedy with a romantic twist, or perhaps a twisted romantic comedy. Martin Q. Blank (Cusack), a “successful” hit man, returns to his native Grosse Pointe, Michigan, for his high-school reunion and, coincidentally, his next and possibly last hit. While in town, he seeks out his only true love, Debi (Driver), a quirky yet endearing radio DJ. Not to be outdone by his vaunting classmates, Blank boasts, “I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork.” A fun, oddball movie with cleverly imagined characters, though at times the graphic violence mutes the humor.
