Overwrought plotting makes Gang Related much less memorable than Shakur's second-to-last outing, Gridlock'd. That's too bad — he had the makings of a fine actor. Dirtier-than-dirty cops Divinci (Belushi) and Rodriguez (Shakur) pad their pockets by selling police-evidence drugs to dealers and then reclaiming the goods by whacking the dealers in supposed drive-by shootings. The boys get in too deep when they off an undercover DEA agent and then are assigned to the case. They come up with a witness, a weapon and a homeless suspect (Quaid), only to discover their patsy comes from a wealthy family that hires a top-notch lawyer (Jones) to defend him.
