The second live-action Flintstones movie is actually a prequel to the 1994 original. British actor Mark Addy submerges his accent to become Fred Flintstone, best friend of Barney Rubble (Stephen Baldwin). The pair is just beginning courtship with Betty (Jane Krakowski) and Wilma (Kristen Johnston). The land they inhabit is pure fantastical Bedrock, enhanced by Jim Henson's Creature Shop and Rhythm and Hues Studios.
The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas may be slightly more mature in plot than its intended audience: dating, relationships, backbiting, and “rock” music. This, along with a snappy script, means that parents will be amused as well.
