Daylight is a considerable improvement over Stallone's last two outings, Assassins and Judge Dredd, but it's far from quality cinema. It's hard to go wrong when virtually copying The Poseidon Adventure, as filmmaker Cohen does here, but Daylight still falls short, mired in clichés and contrivances. When a busload of prisoners collides with a truckload of explosive chemicals, causing pipes to burst and a series of fires and explosions in the Holland Tunnel, it's up to Kit Latura (Sylvester Stallone) to rescue a bunch of travelers stranded underwater between New Jersey and Manhattan.
