The awkwardly titled Condo Painting is a vaguely documentary look at the work and thoughts of wacky American painter George Condo. Condo is one of those rare birds who takes the druggy writings of such counter-cultural icons as William S. Burroughs and Aldous Huxley to heart. The collective unconscious, Condo claims, is populated by cartoonish imps called antipodal beings, whom he paints with garish zeal. Condo's obtuse mysticism is reflected (albeit poorly) by the director's film style: a breathless host of video trickery is thrown at the film in an attempt to make what would have been a quirky 20 minute character sketch into feature-length fare.
