Heavenly acting redeems a script that could have used some divine intervention. In this spin on the Book of Job, Seth Warner (Quinn) is convinced the “divine hand” is out to beat him after his pregnant wife drowns, a tornado hits his Brooklyn house and he is struck by lightning, which cripples his dog and leaves him in a coma. When Warner regains consciousness, he's more than a little bitter and promises to get back at God by violating each of the Ten Commandments. He moves in with his wife's sister, Rachel (Cox), and her despicable, philandering husband, Harry (LaPaglia). The Luces provide ample opportunity for Warner to fulfill his vow.
