Adrenaline Drive is breezy, hyperactive Japanese pop transferred to the big screen. The amusing little movie involves a modest young couple (Hikari Ishida and Masanobu Ando) who accidentally acquire loads of gangster cash. They dash through the film running and spending, breaking out from their form-fitting lifestyles into something more suited to sugared-up action/comedy/romance.
Adrenaline Drive holds enough inventiveness and silly turns to keep the pulse beating, just like that of the unkillable main thug played by Yutaka Matushige. He leads a pack of mafia types trying to get their money back. All others lowlifes are members of a well-known Japanese comedy troupe, indicative of a light hilarity rarely found in upbeat gangster film.
