Neither family-fresh sweet nor post-pubescent naughty, Big Fat Liar is a comedy about an eighth grader whose autobiographical story (“Big Fat Liar”) is stolen by a nasty Hollywood producer and turned into a major motion picture. So Jason (Frankie Muniz from TV's Malcolm in the Middle) and his girlfriend Kaylee (Amanda Bynes) journey to confront corrupt Marty Wolf (Paul Giamatti) in his Universal Studios office. Push comes to shove, and before you know it the quick-witted kids have enlisted several of Wolf's employees in complicated pranks designed to skewer the oily exec (and dye him various colors in the process).
Young Muniz and Bynes have done quality TV work, although director Shawn Levy hustles them through the scenery here. Neither hot nor cold, Big Fat Liar offers little one can't find elsewhere for less.
