The city of Pamplona hosts its annual celebration of the festival of San Fermin. The event, which has pulled massive attendance numbers since being popularized by Ernest Hemingway, runs for eight days. This year at the running of the bulls, the final injury count ranges from 6 to 10, with no reported gorings.

The Tour de France continues this week with its eighth through thirteenth stages. The 2,200-mile race begins this year in Dusseldorf, Germany, and ends on the Champs-Élysées. Of the 104 Tours, this is the 22nd to begin outside of France. Regardless which countries it runs through, the race route draws crowds the whole way.

Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida works with Pikotaro, famous for his "pen-pineapple-apple-pen" video, to promote sustainable development at the UN. The comedian is brought on-board by the Foreign Ministry to compose a version of the "PPAP" song about sustainability.

The protests in Venezuela continue against the Maduro government, further spurred by efforts to draft a new constitution. The opposition calls on protestors to block the roads in Caracas. Here a couch is moved into the middle of the street, and a woman and her dog relax as they protest the president.

Bosnian children view the coffins of Srebrenica victims.
71 victims are identified from the 1995 massacre of Muslim Bosniaks in Srebrenica. The victims' remains are brought to the capital of Sarajevo for public mourning and memorial, before they are due to be buried on the 22nd anniversary of the killings. They are buried at the Srebrenica–Potočari Memorial Center with the remains of over 6,000 other victims of the killings.
