Diamine-dicarboxylic acid salts and process of preparing same and synthetic fiber—Carothers work involved the theory of linear polymerization which culminated in the production of the synthetic material nylon. Nylon was first commercially used in toothbrush bristles. Carothers's work also led others to develop the first successful synthetic rubber, neoprene. (1984)
