Zacarias Moussaoui, 2006 News
member of al-Qaeda, was sentenced to life in prison without the chance for parole in May by a federal jury in Virginia for his role in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Although he did not participate in the attacks, Moussaoui withheld knowledge of the plot from investigators when they interrogated him about three weeks before 9/11. Throughout his trial, in which he defended himself, Moussaoui displayed decidedly erratic behavior, leading many to question his mental stability and his actual role in the attacks.
