Austrian-born body builder Arnold Schwarzenegger won the election that replaced him. Davis faced mounting troubles over the summer as the state's deficit ballooned to a record-setting $38 billion, his approval ratings plummeted, and credit-rating agencies lowered the state's credit rating.
