Roman Catholic archbishop, renounced his marriage to Korean acupuncturist Maria Sung in August. The couple had been married in a May multiple wedding ceremony by Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the head of the Unification Church movement. The marriage prompted outrage from the Catholic church, and Milingo was threatened with excommunication unless he dissolved the union. He ultimately chose the church.
