Thomas Francis MAGNER, Congress, NY (1860-1945)

MAGNER Thomas Francis , a Representative from New York; born in Brooklyn, N.Y. March 8, 1860; attended the public schools; was graduated from St. Xavier College in 1880 and from Columbia University, New York City, in 1882; taught in a public school in Brooklyn; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1883 and commenced practice in Brooklyn, N.Y., the same year; member of the State assembly in 1888; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-first, Fifty-second, and Fifty-third Congresses (March 4, 1889-March 3, 1895); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1894; resumed the practice of law; corporation counsel of the Borough of Brooklyn 1913-1917; continued the practice of his profession in Brooklyn, N.Y., until his death there on December 22, 1945; interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
