Jonathan TAYLOR, Congress, OH (1796-1848)

TAYLOR Jonathan , a Representative from Ohio; born near Mansfield, Conn., in 1796; moved to Newark, Ohio; completed an academic course; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Newark; appointed by the Governor a commissioner to settle the boundary dispute between Ohio and Michigan; brigadier general in the State militia; member of the State house of representatives 1831-1833; served in the State senate 1833-1836; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1839-March 3, 1841); died in Newark, Licking County, Ohio, in April 1848; interment in the Old Cemetery; reinterment in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
