John TRIMBLE, Congress, TN (1812-1884)
TRIMBLE John , a Representative from Tennessee; born in Roane County, Tenn., February 7, 1812; pursued classical studies under a private tutor and at the University of Nashville; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Nashville, Tenn.; attorney general of Tennessee 1836-1842; member of the State house of representatives in 1843 and 1844; served in the State senate in 1845 and 1846, and in 1859 and 1861, when he resigned because of the secession of the State; United States attorney from April 1862 until August 1864, when he resigned; served in the State senate from 1865 to 1867; elected as a Republican to the Fortieth Congress (March 4, 1867-March 3, 1869); died in Nashville, Tenn., February 23, 1884.
