John LESINSKI, Jr., Congress, MI (1914-2005)

LESINSKI John, Jr. , a Representative from Michigan; born in Detroit, Wayne County, Mich., December 28, 1914; at the age of eleven years moved with his parents to Dearborn, Mich.; attended the parochial schools, St. Cyril and Methodeusz Seminary, Orchard Lake, Mich., and graduated from Fordson High School, Dearborn, Mich.; at the age of eighteen years enlisted in the United States Navy as an apprentice seaman and served, 1933-1937; was called to active duty again in February 1941 and served until October 1945; awarded the Purple Heart Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Medals; vice president, Hamtramck Lumber Co., 1939-1943 and 1951-1954; president, Dearborn Properties; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-second and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1951-January 3, 1965); unsuccessful candidate for renomination to the Eighty-ninth Congress in 1964; member, board of commissioners, Wayne County, Mich., 1968-1973; died on October 21, 2005, in Dearborn, Mich.
