HASKELL Harry Garner , A Representative from Delaware; born in Wilmington, New Castle County, Del., May 27, 1921; educated at Tower Hill School, Wilmington, Del., and St. Mark's School, Southboro, Mass.; attended Princeton University 1940-1942; United States Coast Guard Reserve, September 8, 1942, made an ensign in 1943, and was discharged as a lieutenant (jg) in 1946; personnel manager of Speakman Co., 1947-1948; president of Greenhill Dairies, Inc., 1948-1953; secretary of the Departmental Council of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare 1953-1954; consultant to special assistant to President Eisenhower in 1955; owner and operator of Hill Girt Farm, Chadds Ford, Pa.; president of University of Delaware Research Foundation; delegate, Republican National Conventions, 1952-1984; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-fifth Congress (January 3, 1957-January 3, 1959); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1958 to the Eighty-sixth Congress; resumed former business interests; mayor of Wilmington, Del.,  1969-1973; member, Presidents National Reading Council, appointed September 1970; president, Abercrombie and Fitch; died on January 16, 2020.
