Daniel BURROWS, Congress, CT (1766-1858)

BURROWS Daniel , a Representative from Connecticut; born at Fort Hill, Groton, Conn., October 26, 1766; pursued preparatory studies; engaged in the manufacture of carriages and wagons at New London, Conn.; studied theology; was ordained as a minister of the Methodist Church; member of the State house of representatives 1816-1820 and in 1826; delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1818; one of the commissioners to establish the boundary line between the States of Connecticut and Massachusetts; elected as a Republican to the Seventeenth Congress (March 4, 1821-March 3, 1823); was not a candidate for renomination in 1822; resident of Middletown, Conn., 1823-1854; surveyor and inspector of customs for the port of Middletown 1823-1847; died in Mystic, New London County, Conn., January 23, 1858; interment in Elm Grove Cemetery.
