Charles Cyrus KEARNS, Congress, OH (1869-1931)

KEARNS Charles Cyrus , a Representative from Ohio; born in Tonica, La Salle County, Ill., February 11, 1869; moved with his parents to Georgetown, Brown County, Ohio, in 1874; attended the public schools in Georgetown, Ohio, Northern College at Ada, and Lebanon (Ohio) College; taught school in Brown County; was graduated from the Cincinnati Law School in 1894; was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Batavia, Clermont County; managing editor of the Las Vegas (N.Mex.) Daily Record in 1900 and 1901 and of the Daily Record, Hot Springs, Ark., in 1901 and 1902; returned to Ohio in 1903 and practiced law in Batavia; prosecuting attorney of Clermont County, Ohio, 1906-1909; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and to the seven succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1915-March 3, 1931); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1930 to the Seventy-second Congress; engaged in the practice of law at Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1930; died in Amelia, Ohio, on December 17, 1931; interment in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Tobasco, Ohio.
