Marjorie “Mo” Mowlam

charismatic British politician who, as secretary of state for Northern Ireland, was instrumental in negotiating 1998's landmark Good Friday Agreement. Mowlam was elected to the British Parliament in 1987. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1997 and continued on in politics until she retired in 2001.
