Bernard Williams
Age: 73one of the 20th century's most brilliant philosophers, Williams was best known for his influential critiques of both Kant and utilitarianism and for defending the centrality of truth in modern thought. He taught at the universities of London, Cambridge, Berkeley, and Oxford. Williams, who was knighted in 1999, also served on a variety of government committees in England and was a Spitfire pilot for the RAF.
