Martin Kamen
Age: 89biochemist who discovered carbon-14, which is used to date archeological and anthropological artifacts and led to the understanding of chemical processes in plants and animals. He was fired from his job at the University of California at Berkeley in 1944 after being accused of leaking information about the atomic bomb to the Soviets. He eventually cleared his name and won the 1996 Enrico Fermi Award.
