Age: 79knuckleball pitcher, who in 1985 became the first relief pitcher elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame; held the record for games pitched (1,070) when he retired in 1972 (since passed by Jesse Orosco and Dennis Eckersley); won 143 games and saved 227 with 2.52 ERA over 21 seasons and nine teams; last pitcher to no-hit the new York Yankees, doing so on Sept. 2, 1958 at Memorial Stadium as a member of the Baltimore Orioles. The cause of his death was not given.
