Korey Stringer
Age: 27Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl offensive tackle, who died of heat stroke during the team's preseason training camp; started the last 65 straight games at right tackle for the Vikings and played in 91 of a possible 93 regular season games in his six seasons; key blocker for RB Robert Smith who rushed for a team-record 1,521 yards in 2000; first round draft pick (24th overall) out of Ohio State in 1995; voted Buckeye's most valuable player and consensus All-America selection in 1994; Big Ten offensive lineman of the year in 1993 and 1994; lost consciousness after a workout and rushed to the hospital where his body temperature was measured at 108.8 degrees; believed to be the second training camp fatality in NFL history: J.V. Cain, a tight end for the St. Louis Cardinals, died of a heart attack on July 22, 1979. He died of complications from heat stroke.
