Cal Ripken Sr.
Age: 63gritty manager, coach and player in the Baltimore Orioles family for 36 years; the only father to manage two sons simultaneously in the majors; began career as a catcher with the Orioles' Phoenix affiliate in 1957; his 13 years as a manager in the Baltimore farm system was the longest of any Orioles manager; managed his sons Cal Ripken Jr. and Billy during the 1987-88 season; fired as manager and replaced by Frank Robinson six games into the 1988 season, amidst the team's major league record 21-game losing streak to start the season; won 964 games in the minors and was 67-95 as the Orioles manager in 1987-88; returned to coach third base, retiring after the 1992 season. Died of lung cancer.
