Frank Slocum
Age: 71former major league baseball executive and award-winning television writer who was the first and only executive director of the Baseball Assistance Team, a non-profit organization formed in 1986 to help former players in need of financial assistance; has distributed more than $6 million to former players with medical and personal problems; he worked in the National League office and was an executive with the Brooklyn Dodgers during the late 1940's; he began a second career as a television and radio writer and author; he received the George Foster Peabody Award in 1973 for his meritorious service to broadcasting; of cancer
