Age: 85first baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees; known as a fine hitter and fielder, Hassett never had more than 20 strike outs in a season; loved to entertain people by singing and sang between movies while a member of the Dodgers; served as a Naval officer in World War II then managed the Yankees' Newark, N.J. farm team; of bone cancer
