Tony Award-winning stage and film actress who surprised many when she displayed a strong soprano in Broadway's Sunset Boulevard (1994–95). Her films include The Big Chill (1983), Fatal Attraction (1987), and Cookie's Fortune (1999) and two outings as Cruella Deville in Walt Disney's children's films 101 Dalmatians (1996) and 102 Dalmatians (2000). Her TV appearances include the roles of Nellie Forbush in South Pacific (2001) and Eleanor of Aquitaine in The Lion in Winter (2003). She joined Nicole Kidman, Bette Midler, and Christopher Walken in the 2004 remake of The Stepford Wives. In 2005 she took on the role Capt. Monica Rawling in the gritty TV series The Shield. She's reprising her Norma Desmond role in the filming of the Broadway musical Sunset Boulevard.
