The Question:
What is the average length of a hospital stay for a woman giving birth to a baby?
The Answer:
According to a 2003 survey (the most recent) by the National Center for Health Services, the average stay of the 4 million women who were hospitalized for deliveries was 2.6 days. The average stay for a vaginal birth without complication was 2.1 days; the average stay for a C-section without complication was 3.4 days.
