50th Annual Emmy Awards: Our Picks
Here are Information Please's picks of the shows and actors we think deserve Emmys — not who we necessarily think will take home trophies.
Drama Series
Homicide: Life on the Street wasn't nominated, so we'll pick the next best thing: Law & Order.
Comedy Series
Frasier, the only (non-animated) show on network television that has gotten better over time. A win this year will make it seven in a row. The Simpsons has also been consistently fresh, but has its own category.
Best Actor in a Drama Series
Hands down, Andre Braugher of Homicide. He's been overlooked in the past, and this is his last chance to be honored.
Best Actress in a Drama Series
Gillian Anderson of The X-Files. Anyone who can put up with David Duchovny's bellyaching merits recognition.
Best Actor in a Comedy Series
Kelsey Grammer — he's already won Seinfeld's slot, so why not bestow upon him another, less prestigious honor?
Best Actress in a Comedy Series
Calista Flockhart. Love her or hate her, she is a singular actress who plays a singular character.
