Who invented basketball?
The Answer:
Basketball is one of the few popular sports with a definite known origin. In 1891, Dr. James Naismith invented basketball in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Basketball Hall of Fame is named in his honor. For more details about this man, check out his entry in our encyclopedia.
