Singer-songwriter who penned rock and country hits such as “In the Ghetto” and “I Believe in Music” for Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell, Nancy Sinatra and others. Throughout the 1970s, Davis performed regularly in concert and on TV, and starred in the NBC variety show, The Mac Davis Show (1974–76). The Academy of Country Music named him Entertainer of the Year in 1975. In recent years, he has acted in several TV films, including Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack (1998) opposite Clint Black.
