Grammy Award-winning blues-rock singer, guitarist and composer whose virtuosic guitar skills caused some critics to proclaim “Clapton is God.” He played in the Yardbirds (1963–65), John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (1965–66), Cream (1966–68), Blind Faith (1969) and Derek and the Dominos (1970–71). He began his solo career in 1974, and his solo recordings include “Layla” (1970), “Cocaine” (1977), “Lay Down Sally” (1977), Unplugged (1992), and From the Cradle (1994).
