Children Killed by Guns: In 2010, 18,270 children ages 0–19 years were injured by guns. Of these, 2,694 were fatal. Overall gun deaths dropped 4% from 2009 to 2010, the equivalent of 99 lives. The breakdown: homocides decreased from 1,855 to 1,773 (4%); suicides decreased from 800 to 749 (6%); accidental deaths increased from 114 to 134 (18%).
