Jeanne Lanvin was famous for creating the unfitted, chemise-style flapper dress. She first designed the loose, flowing dress for her little daughter, and when its freshness and simplicity was admired by women of all ages, she adapted the design for adults. Lanvin was also known for using beautiful, subtle pinks and blues that were inspired by her own magnificent collection of oil paintings. Her House of Lanvin, the oldest of all Paris fashion houses, set the standard for fashion in the 1920s.
