late-night talk-show host, flirted with taking his Late Show from CBS to ABC. In attempting to lure Letterman to its network, ABC, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company, considered displacing Ted Koppel's highly respected news show, Nightline. The move outraged the staff of ABC News, who claimed the network was placing profit over programming. Letterman announced in March that he would remain with CBS, where he makes an estimated $30 million a year hosting the show.
