Variable frequency oscillation generator—Also known as the “audio oscillator,” this was the first practical method of generating high-quality audio frequencies needed in communications, geophysics, medicine, and defense work. Walt Disney Studios ordered eight audio oscillators to use in producing the soundtrack of the film, “Fantasia.” (1992)
