conductorThe German-born conductor, known primarily for his Mahler interpretations, Tennstedt was the principal guest conductor of the London Philharmonic in 1977, and served as its music director from 1983 to 1987. He also appeared with several U.S. orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and Philadelphia Orchestras.
