Age: 84majority owner of the NFL's Washington Redskins since 1974; oversaw the building of a new natural grass 78,600-seat stadium in Maryland which would later bear his name, Cooke invested $360 million of his own money in the project, in his 23 years since becoming majority owner, the Redskins are 223–151 with three Super Bowl victories, four NFC Championships and 11 playoff appearances, Cooke also owned the Los Angeles Lakers' team of the 1970's and 1980's and operated the Toronto Maple Leafs and a minor league baseball team in the 1950's, Cooke built the Los Angeles Forum which was the first privately funded indoor arena in the United States, horses and horse racing were a passion of Cooke's, owned The Los Angeles Daily News and many other businesses, his son John Kent Cooke now has control of the Redskins, of cardiac arrest
